During the past month there was formed a society known as the LEGION PATRIOTICA RENOVADORA (Patriotic Renovating Legion. It is not expected that this group will wield much influence in the coming campaign.
Manuel Castro Quesada and his followers are reported in the local press to be considering launching his candidacy most any day. He has astutely refrained from taking such action, however, up to the present. Without means of his own, he seems naturally to be looking about for individuals or organizations supplied with means with whom he may cast his lot. The opinion still preW WWANNA vails that he would much prefer to pick the winner and thus receive the reappointment to the Legation in Washington than to assume the risk of defeat in the open Campaign which seems certain unless he can depend on the direct assistance of such Government agencies as his friend the Minister of Public Safety and the organization under his command. combination with Ricardo Jiménez seems out of the question for the moment, since Castro Quesada knows from past experience that even though he were to campaign successfully for the ex President, the latter would not reward him with any such appointment as the Legation in Washington.
Felipe Alvarado, the wealthy business man, does not seem disposed to enter the campaign, and the same may be said of another of Castro Quesada friends, Oscar Rohrmoser. He has therefore seen fit in recent weeks Fired por Charles Eberhardt
