The January 21, 1933 edition of TRABAJO, two copies of which are enclosed herewith, contains severe attacks against the criminal Government of Gerardo Machado, in alliance with Yankee Imperialism. a criticism of President Jiménez for permitting the banana people of Boston (United Fruit Company) to govern Costa Rica. an eulogy on the activities and life of Julio Antonio Mella, who was assassinated in Mexico by order of President Machado on January 10, 1929. and the reproduction of a pamphlet by Lenin, entitled Socialism and War.
It may also be observed that the paper contains a news item to the effect that, at a general meeting attended by representatives from the Provinces and from San José, the following were named to direct the Communist Party of Costa Rica during the period 1933 34:Manuel Mora Valverde, Secretary General Jaime Cerdas Mora, corresponding Secretary Carlos Pérez, Recording Secretary Manuel González, Financial Secretary Pro Secretaries:Humberto González; Guillermo Fernández; Adolfo Braña Rojas; Rodrigo Soto Ramos; Oscar Bermúdez Romero; Ricardo Villalobos; Jesús Mendoza; Miguel Angel Umana; Roberto Camacho; Carlos Marín Obando; Marcelino Molina.
