Respectruly yours, DIARIO DE COSTA RICA of this morning published an exchange of telegrams between Manuel Mora, Communist Deputy, and President Jiménez, on the subject of the laborers who were brought from Puntarenas to act as strikebreakers in the Guac imo area. Congressman Mora stated in his telegram that this action by the United Fruit Company indicates that the Company is not seeking a solution of the strike and on the contrary insists on cutting bananas with the help of the machine guns of the police. President Jiménez, in his reply, stated that the 23 laborers brought from Puntarenas by no means represent a contingent which may decide either the strike or the breaking thereof; that the Government does not consider the bringing in of strikebreakers as a crime; that if the laborers have a right to abandon their work on the farms, the Company, by the same token, has the right to employ others. The President added that the Government, anxious to break the tension which exists between the banana planters and the laborers, has ordered the Minister of Interior and Labor to proceed to Siquirres to consult with representatives of the planters and laborers to study not only
