Serious doubts are entertained of the sanity of the individual in question, one Sandoval Barahona, and many prominent oitizens of strong anti communist views have come to Mora defense and expressed their belief in his innocence. Nevertheless, the charges made against Mora will not be easy to disprove, particularly as the police appear to have definite evidence linking his acouser Sandoval with the assassination.
As a result of the acousation against the communist leader, both the Government and members of the wealthier class have again become alarmed at the threat of communism to the established social and political structure in Costa Rica. Since the assassination of González Lahmann, a number of rumors have circula ted to the effect that a number of other capitalists have been threatened in similar extortion plots and a story of the existence of a communist death list reported to have been diso vered several years ago has again been revived.
Regardless of the outcome of the investigation now being made of the charges against deputy Mora, opposition of the ruling classes to the communist threat has definitely stiffened.
