THE STUPOR OF CENTRAL AMERICA Cuba, notwithstanding its internal strife since the fall of Machado, has been able to liberate itself from the Platt Amendment; and the patriots of the Island, in spite of their doctrinary differences, are making superhuman efforts to oppose the imperialistic exploitation and the accomplice government which protects it.
Panamá, in spite of its geographic situation and its origin as an independent Republic, has brilliant youths who rise up against the impositions of the AngloSaxon conqueror; and it appears that the Panamanians are winning the one sided battle, because they are resolved that the Bunnau Varilla Treaty be reformed and that there be excluded from the text the clauses which they consider offensive to the dignity of their country.
On the contrary, Central America, in criminal stupor, is losing the opportunities offered by the good neighbori policy; and instead of breaking defaming shackles, of at least attempting the revision of treaties and protocols which have us at the mercy of imperialism, continues to grant concessions, offering itself to Wall Street and the White House, continuing therefore the policy of submission which will finish, sooner or later, with what is still left of these unfortunate semi colonies.
The generations to come, our children and our grandchildren, will hold responsible these men of the government who today are adulated and dined, for the series of crimes of treason to the country which they are committing.
