Each day. he is quoted as having said, am more convinced that for Costa Rica a liberal democratic system is the best, and for the whole orld also, since there is no form of government more just nor more humane than democracy, and within its framework all reforms necessary to meet varying circumstances can be effected, without violence but on the basis of effective progress, for the benefit of all classes in the nation.
He added that in voting for More he would be voting for one who has proven during his three years in Congress to be a person of great talent and public spirit, extremely honest and very studious, looking at national problems with such high and noble spirit that even his adversaries regard him with respect. He has made errors, as all men have made them, especially in youth. But there is no doubt that he has developed and that he is no longer the impassioned man that he was when he began his public life.
