Through Source it has been learned that the announcement of the leaders of the Club Juventud Unida was inspired by Juventud Unida was inspired by the plans of the Vanguardia Popular for the establishment of their university and that the two groups would work together to organise the same school.
Apparently the university is still in the embryo stage. On June 15, 1944, Source reported that classes of the Universidad Popular had not yot begun. The direotor will be CARLOS LUIS SAENZ (ELIZONDO. a long time member of the Vanguardia Popular who is regarded as something of an intellectual, and it is understood that two of the members of the Vanguardia Popular al serve as professors. One of these will probably be JADE OERDAS (MORA. and the other may be RAFAEL DE BUEN, but this 16 not confirmed. SAENZ is still enrolling students and from his conversations with the applicants is formulating the curriculum. The matrioulation of the students takes place on Thursday of each week at 7:00 pm in the offices of the Confederación de Trabajadores de Costa Rica, the labor union sponsored by the Vanguardia Popular, which is affi Bated with the contedoraeton de Trabajadores de America Latina. Apparently the university will be sponsored by the ONER rather than directly by the Vanguarda Popular. He has belonged to the Vanguardia Popular for several years and appears to be friendly with the members of that organisation. He has a sister named ROSATHIA LUARGA who lives in Santa Ana, 31 Salvador. The purpose of VERRATO trip to Il Salvador is not own with certainty, but it may be presumed that he wout in his tapueity as Secretary of Organisation of the Vanguardia Popular as this is his full time occupation.
Source advised that on June 8, 1944, PERRETO addressed an envelope to MARIA ISABEL CARBAJAL which contained what was apparently a newspaper article written for the San Jose wwwspaper, La Tribuna. and signed by TERRETO. The article was an account of an interview which a correspondent (apparently FERRETO) had with REINALDO GALINDO POML, the President of the Asociación General de Estudiantes Salvador eños.
