Guardar

DECLASSTEUį Don René also spoke of his determination to secure free elections in 1946. He said that the police are not loyal to him and that he may have difficulty in controlling them, but he was going to give definite orders that they must keep out of politics and if he does not feel assured that elections will be free, he intends to resign. He said that he is firmly convinced that if the elections are free the Cortesistas will have a majority in Congress. He said that Manuel Mora and Calderón Guardia are aware of this and will try to force the Government to take steps to assist their candidates.
He said that the last eleetions were crooked and that the country will not stand for a repetition. He, therefore, foresees that he will have a fight with the communists on this question. Walter Washington, Chargé Affaires ad interim.
