Just before leaving Mora ventured the opinion that international communism was dead; he stated that his party had always emphasized its natite roots in preference to blind adherence to the International, and he believed that the international variety of communism had been abolished forever. He said: do not want Communism for Costa Rica or any other Central American country. What we need is more democracy. There was no time to discuss this point, but Mora indicated that he would be glad to go into the subject furthar at a later time.
As is usual, Mora spoke of the various problems of Costa Rica with confidence, and he gave the impression that he felt that the Vanguardia Popular was in a good position in the local political picture. He was perhaps somewhat more critical of the Government and President Picado than here tofore, and it is obvious that he realizes that he has some bitter enemies in the Government ranks. It is also apparent that he is seriously concerned with the Central American political situation, which he considers grave.
