. Cosu 2eminently popular and supported by the zeal of national labor in its object to liberate the lower classes, is fully disposed to finish with Marxian Communism existing in Costa Rica. The Embassy has reported to the Department several statements made by Father Nuñez in private which show his dislike for the Vanguardia Popular party led by Manuel Mora and his feeling that Communism and Vanguardism are synonimous. Therefore, his reference to Communism in the aforementioned address is not being misinterpreted by the rightists publications when they state that he has openly attacked his rivals. There is every probability that Father Nuñez can little longer refrain from even more open declarations of his policies.
