This group, which was nor founded under the auspices of the Vanguardia Popular Party, held its first general meeting in the Teatro Latino on the evening of August 22, 1945. It is estimated that some 500 persons attended this meeting. The first speaker of the evening was Fernando VILLA.
LOBOS, a young costa Rican law student. Senor Villalobos praised the Vanguardia Popular Party and stated that the youth of the country had confidence in this party. He declared that the world was moving to the left and that Costa Rica should not be an exception. He also condemned the Franco Government of Spain.

Senor Montero, a young intellectual who is known to be close to Manuel MORA, spoke both on world problems and on questions concerning Costa Rica. He declared that the world is in the process of a great transformation and that Costa Ricant youth is preparing for this transformation. He stated that the Juventud Vanguardista had the responsibility of keeping Costa Rican youth on the alert since he knew that there was a sector of the country that wished to overthrow the Government of President PICADO and set up in its place a Nazi Government.
