Od 19 2547 With further reference to my telegram No. 474 of September 25th have the honor to report that a homemade dynamite bomb completely destroyed the automobile of Vanguardia leader Manuel MORA at 9:45 m, on the evening of September 24th. Two other unsuccessful bombing attempts occurred the same evening.

DIE Condemnation of the bombing has been universal in both the administramen tion, and the Opposition press, from President PICADO down. BORA issued a ОС 27 press statement, translation of which is attached, stating that he was not lo surprised by the attempt upon his life and that even if he should eventualA ly be wiped out, the revolutionary efforts of the people will continue. He called upon his followers to exercise prudence and not engage in reprisals and said that his Party fights collectively, never individually.
818. 00 2947 It is the consensus of opinion that the younger, fanatic element of you the Opposition is responsible for these bombings, National Republican Party sources claim that the names of the guiding spirit behind these bombings, as well as those actually perpetrating the outrages are known to the administration and they charge that, in his policy of following a course of least resistance President PICADO is preventing the bringing to justice of those guilty.
