SIR: The mix With further reference to the Embassy despaton No. 356 of July 19th, concerning the outlawing of VANGUARDIA POPULAR, have the honor to report that com. ment in the local press has been; without exception, favorable.

The first, which appeared in the PRENSA LIBRE for July 17th, that is to say, at the time the law. was under disoussion and before its publication, calls for uniformity in the world fight against communism. It claims that the lack of such uniformity is the very Ieason why communism has gained ground. In dealing with communism, it oalls for equality in treatment of the intalleotuei communist and the communist worker. It points.
out that the latter as a rule is merely the ignorant tool of the former. It calls for a cessation of the impunity with which the intelleotual communist has here tofore been treated.
Another editorial in the PRENSA LIBRE for July 19th that is after the deorre law had been published. calls it a step of outstanding national and continental importanoe. It describes the law as a faithful interpretation of the sentiment of the country and not a mere political move. It Olaims that the measure leads to the preserva. tion of peace, will promoto international relations, and that it will further the ties which prGSGIVe paa06. The Junta, it states, has olosed the doors to the enemies of genuine democracy and that, in doing so, it has assured political tolerance.
