After this long interpolation, Mora reverted to the original paragraph of his letter namely, the conference at Ochomongo, which he said resulted exclusively in the obtention of guarantees for the working class and did not give rise to any alliance with Figueres or any conspiracy against the future presidency of Ulate, and even less, any recognition by Vanguardia Popular of the future right of Figueres hand his friends to govern Costa Rica. The phrase, which immediately followed is one of the few lapses throughout the letter into something like party line jargon. Simply as political realists which we are we adapted ourselves to reality and we decided we would move within it.

In concluding, Mr. Mora made another appeal for comprehension and compassion on the Ulatista side, stating. In passing wish to inform you for your better understanding that am not in accord with the nationalization of the banks decreed by the Junta of Government nor with the confiscation of ten per cent of capitals greater than fifty thousand colones. These measures in my view are not in accordance with Costa Rican reality and, therefore, are anti scientific. They will give negative results if they are not already doing so. The policies which we need to overcome the economic and social backwardness are others indeed.
Mora, aware of course of many of the, principles which Ulate holds and undoubtedly aware of his recent condemnation of persecutions and hatreds in his message to the Constituent Assembly reported in the Embassy despatch no. 59. of February. ended his letter as follows: NI take CONFIDENTIAL
