Another plane dronped a bomb. At intervals there was a loud explosion which we rightly ruessed were morter shells, some inside the cuartel and some close by outside.
Around six Luise had fixed us some coffee, and about seven Francisso made more and joined us inder the stairs. Daroberto and Carmen stayed in the servants murrters, which were fairly well protected and low. Soldiers and swarms of armed civilians appeared at once and into the cuartel, some even climbing over the walls.
For some time we watched goings on in the cuartel from our balcony with field plasses. We saw the prisoners lined up, their arms collected and put in truck, and finally the arrival of Ulate followed shortly by Figueres. We then took stock of the house. There WAS good nerl of broken class and plaster scattered about, but no serious damage, We nici ed un a handfull. of bullets from the floors.
Andy and Miss Penny came by. She had as lively a night as we as there was constant firing from her building at the cuartel although fortunately very little return fire in that direction, We had one telephone line working, but no electricity, so no water upstairs. The streets on all sides were littered with broken wires, After breakfast went to the office to nrepare a full report for the Department, then came home to lunch and a nap. In the afternoon we took a drive around tonn. Shortly after the firing stonped a dachshund dragging a broken lead chain came running into our garage and flopped down panting, scared and tired. We have asked one of the radio stations to advertise her, but sofer have had no calls. She mis obviously a fine dog end hed enoted Louise who has fed in petted her.
