The bistory of the case is of an uncommon type, telling of a crime originating through the unhealthy affection cherished by the male accused for the dead man wife, Halliman. It appears that Halliman and her husband Moose, lived together with an old lady in the heart of a cocoa estate at Penal. Two miles away from their res! dence was the nearest public road, and save 1or few neighbours a long distance away they were alone. Moose had been ailing for some time during which he received medical aid and on Tuesday, last was seen apparently good health getting rice in his field in the neighbouring lagoon. On that after noon be returned home at o clock. Next morning he was found dead in bed and visitors noticed that his neck was swollen and bore impressions as if of finger prints His body was buried on Wednesday afternoon.
Subsequently it came out that Ragoonanan a leged to have been making affectionate advances to Halliman, bad approached a few men asking them to assist him in getting rid of Moose as he wished to get the property and Halliman for bimself.
Police investigations were made and on Sunday night both persons were arrested and lodged in the cells at the San Fernando Police Station.
