Residents of Montego Bay As.
serts That Privy Council is Holding up Scheme.
Take Notice cerned.
Ho Ro Co Famous Products For some time the residents of Montego Bay have been clamouring for the lighting of the town by electricity and the matter has been engaging the aitention tbe Parochial fathers of that Parish.
Several schemes have been submitted and the late Mr.
Lewis Emery prior to his death, submitted proposals which were quite amenable. The difficulty was in procuring the license.
Betore anything could be done, Mr. Emery died and the matter again went to rest in the lap of the gods.
Recently, Messrs Henriques Bros. of Kingston drew up a plan for the installation of an electric plant in that town, that would serve the community.
The Parochial Board agreed to these plans and the Company was given the right to Install the system For the last six months the matter bas been before the Privy Council, and in the meantime the people of Montego Bay are still using their kerosene lamps, to say nothing of the stygian darkness that prevades the streets at night.
It is safe to say that the residents are dissatisfied over such a prolonged silence on the part of the Privy Council in granting the license whereby they will have lighting facilities in their town, and it is hoped that they will not have long to complain.
In view of the growing importance of Montego Bay, ibe lighting of the town enhance he beauties of this fluurising northside town.
