AND CORNER JAVILLO FILL Japan is going to establish in China two institutes for scientific and cultural research, it was announced last night by Katsuji Debuchi, the Japanese Ambassador, at a dinner of the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the Hotel Madison.
One of the institutes will be in Shanghai and the other in Peking, said Mr. Debuchi, indicating that Japan hand other cultural enterprises in China, which he did not specify. The necessary expenses will be defrayed from a special fund obtaine dfrom the revenues from the Boxer indemnity and the Shantung Railway loan, he said. These insitutes will be open not only for Chinese and Japanese, but for the scientific world at large; and, am sure, will contribute in no small degree to the development of intellectual co operation between the occidental and oriental peoples.
