There have been many wise thoughts and brilliant ideas advanced for upniting and bettering the condition of the Negro race. Education, the establishment of Daily Newspapers throughout the world where Negroes exist; Practical efforts to unite negroes the world over; the raising of a 600. 000. 000 fund to carry on all these points were topics all interestingly debated, and seem to gain the unanimous approbation of the Convention.
But the following matter of fact and practical speech delivered by Mr. Johnson delegate from Columbus, struck us quite forcibly. He says. Many helpful things had been said by the delegates on the subject being discussed. The delegates, however, who might say that one thing or another was feasible, would be the wirst to find some defective point. The social, political and economic question could not be divided, for where there was a proper political situation, the social and economic forces were strengthened. Most of the things which had worked against the in the past, had been through political sources.

If a stable programme was evolved as a result of the Convention, he (the speaker would put his head on the block if necessary for the sake of his people, but otherwise he was through. The first thing which should be done was to form a stable financial Organization, for by doing that the could regain the prestige which it held in 1921.
The mistakes of the past, should make them wise, and they should lay aside all personalities and look at the from a broader point of view (applause. This address bristles with the ring of genuine practicability which makes for industrial progress, and tends to place the Negro in a position from which he must command recognition and respect.
On a whole, the deliberations of the Convention, so as it has gone, show a trend for pursuing along lines of practical industry; and eliminating the heretoforej gaudy show and pompous display which got the Negro no where, but which, to the contrary has savoured much to bring members of the organization into disrepute.
There is no gainsaying the fact that if the ideas of Education, Industry and Social unity are maintained and fostered the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League with its Legion of members, can do much for the uplifting and advancement of the Negro race.
