Ward that this House do now approve of the Majority Report of the Committee appointed by this House to consider and port on His Excellency mes sage of the 6th June, 1930 There was an amendment to this Resolution moved by Mr.
Walcott, that the word major ity be deleted and the Word Minority Substituted therefor. division was taken on the question for the retention of the word majority. This was resolved in the negative, members voting for Aye and 15 members voting No.
The question that the word minority be inserted in lieu of majority was put and re sulted in an equal division, nine members voting on each side.
The Chairman thereupon gave his casting vote with the Ayes.
The members who voted against the word minority being inserted in lieu of ma jority did so because they felt that it involved the House pledg ing itself to the Minority Re port as it stood, while they were in favour of that report with some amendments, Mr. Yearwood then moved a separate resolution as follows: Resolved, that this Committee is of opinion that the sugar and molasses industry can be best assisted during the present crisis by a system of stabilising the selling price of sugar mo lasses and syrup, and that the Governor in Executive Com mittee be requested to send down a Bill to effect the pur pose for the crops of 1930 31.
This resolution was ously passed and reported to the House, The House passed a resolu tion in the terms of the Resolu tion passed in Committee, and an address was passed to His Excellency the Governor in the terms of that resolution.
